FAQ: WINDSHIELD OR RASHGUARD, WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Having the right gear tailored to the conditions can be the difference between an epic session and a tough one. That's why we've developed two distinct in-water sun protection tops: the Hooded Windshield and the Hooded Rashguard. Understand their differences to gear up smarter.

HOODED WINDSHIELD: COMBAT WIND IN WARM WATER

Specifically engineered for warm water environments where wind is a factor. The Hooded Windshield provides 99+ UPF protection on the body and arms, and 50+ UPF on the hood. It excels in water temperatures above 70°F and air temperatures below 80°F, offering crucial wind resistance without overheating.

"The heat of a wetsuit top with none of the resistance." – Nathan Florence

The Windshield is ideal for surfing in breezy tropical conditions, but its versatility makes it a go-to for a range of water sports. Whether you're paddling, foiling, or heading out in brisk morning winds, it delivers lightweight protection and cuts through the chill without compromising performance. It's the perfect layer when conditions are variable and your gear needs to keep up.

"Solid piece of gear. Perfect for those dawn patrol sessions when the trades are blowing here in Hawaii. The water beads off and keeps the wind from stealing your heat. It's replaced my wetsuit top usage in the spring season. Definitely size up though - this is the only size large top I own (normally between small and medium)." - Daniel L.

Sizing: Follow your wetsuit sizing. If you're between sizes, we suggest sizing up for optimal comfort and layering.

HOODED RASHGUARD: ULTIMATE BREATHABILITY FOR WARM WATER & AIR

A fundamental piece for warm water and hot air conditions. Offering comprehensive 50+ UPF protection throughout, our Hooded Rashguard is designed for water temperatures exceeding 70°F and air temperatures above 80°F. Its focus is on maximum breathability and sun defense in warmer climates.

"Essential item on any warm water surf trip. This rash guard has protected me on several warm water surf trips and I wouldn’t go on one without it now. The hood is a game changer and my surf sessions are longer due to less sun fatigue and sunburn. The hood/ face opening in snug enough to stay in place on decent sized waves when duck diving (if preferred), but loose enough to easily flip back when paddling out if you want to." - Andrew B.

The Hooded Rashguard isn’t just built for surfing—it’s equally at home during prone paddling, outrigger canoeing, foiling, stand-up paddling, and more. Designed for peak performance, it offers reliable sun protection and a secure, skin-tight fit that moves with you. The tightly knit fabric helps prevent chafing during long sessions and can double as a cooling layer when soaked, making it ideal for high-output activities in the heat.

"The Solution. This thing is all time. Got it to stay covered while doing long prone paddle sessions but have had it out in a few surf sessions as well. Hood stays put when it's up, even through duck dives. It also conveniently works as some sun blockage on your neck while it's down. So far the material has held up through ~3 months of prone 2-3 times a week. This thing fits perfectly in the niche I was looking for and couldn't be happier." - Talon W.

Sizing: Align with your wetsuit sizing. If you're between sizes and prefer a secure, compressive fit for performance, we recommend sizing down.
